The Quick Brown Fox
I'm starting to sense a bit of a theme here - I've been reaching for shades of brown and burgundy non-stop lately.
This cute little two piece number probably dates from the late 1930s or early 1940s, judging from the shape of the skirt and the slight puff of the shoulders. I really love the soutache detailing on the blouse (or jacket, or whatever you want to call it) - it just adds so much interest to a simple, easy to wear look.
I'm fairly used to getting comments or looks when I wear vintage out and about, but this outfit took it to a whole new level. Of course, I was wearing a fur cape on the bus and in a fairly busy area of downtown Chicago, so that's probably to be expected. Still, I feel a bit weird about people taking photos without asking. It's one thing to do it while I'm taking my own photos, but when I'm just walking down the street I feel like some kind of sideshow.
Anyway, this look worked rather well, even on the chilly day that I took these photos, but I'm really looking forward to wearing it when the warmer spring weather hits. I also think it'll work well broken into separates - I'm already picturing the top with my high waisted, 1970s jeans.
