Post Punk
I'm being a bit of a poser here, if I'm honest.
As Brian said when I told him I was going for a kind of Chelsea girl thing, "you just don't come across as punk. You're just not violent enough." Which... well, I do have some anger management issues, but they tend to lend themselves more towards swearing at people in traffic than cracking skulls. So, that's accurate.
Lately, though, I've been looking for ways to incorporate a little bit of a sporty tomboy flair into my style, and I keep coming back to photos of skinhead girls from the 60s and 70s. And I know what you're thinking - "skinhead"? Have I decided to embrace racism and neo-Nazism? When the movement started, though, it was working class kids of all races who embraced West Indian culture, including music like reggae.
Brian and I had a pretty productive trip to the thrift store this weekend, which was where I picked up this skirt. It was only $2! And it was exactly what I've been looking for. I also got a couple of pairs of jeans, and my total ended up being somewhere around $7. I need to start heading there more often - I get so caught up shopping online that I forget how awesomely cheap (and just generally awesome) the thrift stores can be.
Cool location, no? Brian's workshop yields yet another perfect spot.
Speaking of...
Did everyone have a good weekend?
