Whole Lotta LottaBody
I’m a bit late to this party, but I’ve finally got around to trying LottaBody setting lotion. When I first started doing foam roller sets and pin curls, I was using a generic wrap lotion that I picked up at Sally Beauty Supply. It worked fairly well – it could get a little crunchy, but the hold was decent. A couple of weeks ago, I realized that I was running low, though, and having heard so many great things about LottaBody, I ordered a bottle off of Amazon.
It’s a good thing it works, because somehow I didn’t realize just how big a 32 ounce bottle of setting lotion was going to be. It’s huge. It’s at least a year’s worth, and probably more.
I’ve been using it regularly for the past couple of weeks, and I'm really pleased with it. I went with the least amount of dilution recommended to start with – 2 parts water to one part setting lotion – but it doesn’t make my hair crispy or crunchy. My curls are nice and tight, but a bit less frizzy than they usually are, and I feel like my brush outs are quicker and easier than they were before.
Since I also needed hairspray, I also picked up another classic styling product - Ellnett hairspray. The stuff I'd been using previously had amazing hold, but I don't wash my hair every day, and brushing it out could be an absolutely nightmare. Ellnett has a slightly more flexible hold, but it still does a great job, even on a windy day. Best of all, when I want to brush it out, it doesn't hurt my scalp or make me feel like my hair is being torn out, which, hey, big plus.
I've always kind of felt that brand names are overrated, and I'm still going to keep buying my generic pain relievers when I go to the drug store. After trying "the classics," though, I'm starting to think maybe some things do live up to their hype. Have you ever found a brand or a product like that? Something that you maybe have dismissed, but have realized actually does live up to its reputation?
