We're Not In Kansas Anymore

Brian and I went and saw the new Coen brothers movie, Hail, Cesar!, Friday night. Not only was it hilarious (if a bit light on plot), it was a great excuse to get dressed up and have a little fun. After all, it's set in Hollywood in the 50s, so what could be more appropriate than decking ourselves out, 50s style, for our night on the town?
I have a few party dresses in my closet that I haven't worn often enough to buy a new one, but... well, that's never actually stopped me from buying a new one. And considering that there are no less than six vintage stores in my neighborhood (no, seriously, come visit me!), it wasn't hard to find something cute and sassy and reasonably priced.
I almost didn't buy it - as I said above, I hardly need another party dress to hang in my closet, depressed that I don't take it out to more parties - but I love the black and white stripes, the little vest/corset/belt/whatever detail, the wide, almost off the shoulder neckline. If I hadn't tried it on, I probably could have left without it, but you know how it is when you put something on and you really like it, and you've already basically given yourself permission to buy it, and then the store owner looks at the tag and is like "for you, 25% off!" It would take someone with a much stronger will than I have to walk out without it.
So, is anyone else planning on seeing Hail, Cesar!? I thought it was one of the funniest movies that I've seen for a while. It was well acted, and I loved the structure, where you got to see bits and pieces of very pastiche-y films inspired by the movies of the 1950s. Some of the plot lines felt a little underdeveloped, but at the same time, it might be for the best that you don't see too much of things. All in all, I highly recommend it.
