Blue Hibiscus
Can I just start out by saying that I'm really, really happy with how these photos turned out?
Brian and I had originally intended to get up really early and go to the beach while it was still deserted, but I kept hitting snooze and we ran short on time. We walked around the neighborhood for a bit and tried to get some photos, but he was definitely not feeling it and both of us were getting frustrated.
Later in the day, while he was out, I decided to try and get some photos on my own. As much as I love my new camera, sometimes it's just tough to get good photos using the timer. On this occasion, though, everything kind of came together - a simple but photogenic background, flattering lighting, a great dress, a good hair day. It's so nice when set of photos really does a nice outfit justice, isn't it?
I picked this dress up a couple of months ago, and I actually wore it to the wedding that I went to in Cape Cod, but I hadn't gotten around to taking photos of it until now. I'd guess it's probably early to mid-60s, and while it's home sewn and has some wonky bits in the construction, it presents really nicely.
I thought silver would pair nicely with the black, white, and blue color scheme of the dress, so I grabbed both of the bonus pieces that I received from my most recent Chronically Vintage order. I think they both look really divine with this dress, particularly the dangling coin earrings.
My shoes were a little bit of a DIY project, and I'm almost as pleased with them as I am with this set of photos. I'd ordered a very simple pair of sandals from Zara a while back, but unfortunately they're not terribly comfortable. They're a bit too minimalist in design, and they rub my feet raw given half a chance. Luckily, I had quite a bit of velvet ribbon on hand, and it worked out really well to lace them through and wrap them around my ankles. They still need a little breaking in before I can walk around in them all day, but at least they stay on my feet.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Did anyone get up to anything exciting?
