Summertime Sadness
I must start out with a scandalous admission - this post is a bit of a punt. I mostly just whinge about the weather being too hot and wishing I had new clothes. Consider yourself warned!
I'm looking forward to fall for many reasons, but chief among them is a really dumb one: I'm running out of clothes to wear.
I mean, not literally. I objectively have plenty of clothes, but either I've recently photographed them or they're not suitable for the weather or I just don't feel like wearing them, and I am officially over it. I've got a vacation coming up (less than two weeks now!), and with all of the saving that I've been doing my clothing budget is virtually nil, so picking up something new is out of the question. I recognize that this a problem entirely of my making, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.
Of course, as I write this we're experiencing some of the most perfect weather that we've had all year, which makes me feel crazy for wishing that fall would come just a little bit sooner. And for the first time in quite a while, Brian and I had a day off at the same time, which meant that we got to see a movie together (Kubo and the Two Strings, for the record, which I loved and he hated), visit some of his family, and walk around taking photos for the better part of the afternoon.
It's been a little while since I've worn this dress, and that makes it practically new again, right? Not that there's anything wrong with repeating outfits - I do it all the time - but I do try to space it out a little bit and change up the styling when I do.
But let's be honest here: this is basic as hell. I'm wearing a sundress, sandals, and a cardigan. I've got no visible jewelry on and didn't bother to do anything creative with my makeup, although I was having a pretty great hair day.
I guess that's why I'm glad I live in a place with four really distinct seasons. I would be the worst blogger if I lived in SoCal, or some other place that's relatively warm year round. Summer fatique: my own personal nightmare.
But hey, sometimes cute and easy (not the first time I've been called that...) is the name of the game, right? And to make up for a severely basic post, enjoy a bonus dapper dude.
