For the past couple of years I've been on the lookout for a dress - red, with a peter pan collar, preferably with buttons down the front. I've bought a couple, but I could never find one that fit just right. I'm on the tall side and broad shouldered, and both of the red, peter pan collared dresses that I've bought in the past were too short in the sleeves, too narrow in the shoulders.
When eShakti reached out to me offering a customized dress for review, I was really pleased to see a gorgeous dress in exactly the style that I've been looking for for so long among my many choices. Of course, the question in my mind was, will it fit me the way that I'd always hoped those other dresses would?
Now, I'm always a little wary of people who are overly enthusiastic about things that they get for free, but honestly, this dress is so perfect. The fit is spot on - sleekly fitted in the bodice, the waist hitting me in exactly the right spot, the skirt just full enough to make twirling fun.
I didn't look at the fabric content before I ordered, so I was pleasantly surprised to open the package and discover that it's a nice cotton blend. It's got a bit of a texture to it, almost like linen, but it wears really nicely through the day.
I've worn it a couple of times since it arrived, and it's a great transitional dress - lightweight enough for hot weather, but substantial enough that with a cardigan over the top it works beautifully for a fall day.
I'd heard about eShakti before, but for whatever reason I'd never ordered anything from them. Given how great my experience was with this dress, though, I wouldn't hesitate to put my money where my mouth is and order another custom dress.
I always enjoy spending time at Brian's parents' house in northwest Indiana. As much as I love the city, it's lovely to get away sometimes and breathe the fresh air. We were also celebrating several birthdays and his parents' wedding anniversary, so they had nearly 100 people out to celebrate. Great food, great drinks, and a great music ensured that everyone had a very good time.
A few of my current favorites in the store
I love the green and gold - the falling leaves are perfect for autumn.
I'm seriously drooling over this one - it's so 40s!
60s inspired dresses without a defined waist can be hard to pull off, but I'd be interested in seeing how a custom tailored version would work.
