Outtakes
For every great photo, there are 5 (or 10) goofy, mediocre, or bad ones. Presented here for your entertainment, here are some of the photos that I took this year that didn't quite make the cut in my regular posts.
Lights, Camera, Action
Action shots are hard. If you've ever tried to get a good photo of a twirl, you know exactly what I'm talking about. We love them because they're dynamic and fun (and a great way to show off a full skirt), but when they go wrong... Well, you'll see.
Oh, the high kick. It's one of my favorite kind of photos when it comes off, but sometimes it looks like I spent too many of my formative years watching The Karate Kid.
I think the tough face is what really sells it.

Just goes to show, a jump shot isn't much easier. My hair, my glasses, and my dress all look like they're ready to jump ship.
Face of an Angel
You know those photos where there's something weird going on with your dress or in the background, but your face is looking so good you just crop it like crazy and run with it? Yeah, these are like the opposite of that.
The waterfalls of iceland are one of the natural wonders of the world. They're beautiful. Let's just assume I was so overwhelmed by the majesty that I couldn't control the muscles of my face.
Sometimes I can look a bit sleepy in my photos. I may have overcorrected here.
