Watermelon

Watermelon

The summer is wearing on here in Chicago - hot, humid, and seemingly endless. I remember thinking that spring was never going to come, and now here I am praying for some cooler temps!

Of course, there are a million little things to love about summer, like fresh flowers from the farmer's market, pretty dresses the color of ripe watermelon, and calm early mornings down by the river. It really is lovely to step outside before the sun rises and just be bathed in warm air, even if the humidity means that my hair falls flat before I get 10 feet from my door.

I've been wearing this dress regularly in my real life (it's a very good "throw it on an go" piece, which is fantastic when I've reached the point in the season where getting dressed is starting to feel like a chore instead of a pleasure), so I'm glad that I've finally got some good snaps of it. It's a good mid-weight fabric, which gives it a nice drape, and I like the subtle texture that the lines give it and the wide spread of the collar, which really accents the collar bones. Because it's not super light and airy, it'll make a nice transitional piece for the fall with a jacket or cardigan.

Are you guys as ready for fall as I am? Any plans for the waning days of summer?
