Turista

If you live in a bigger city (or a small one, I guess; I don't know your life), you've probably mentally (or literally; again, I don't know your life) cursed a tourist once or twice. Bumbling about, blocking the sidewalks when they stop dead in their tracks to take a photo of something, complaining about how much more expensive everything is here than it is back home.

Of course, having been a tourist in other cities a number of times, being in a new place can be really overwhelming. I remember being in Poland and being utterly confused by one restaurant that I was in; the lady at the counter acted like I was a complete idiot (so embarrassing!), and I've tried to be more tolerant of Chicago's tourists since then.

I decided to spend a day playing tourist in my own city. There's something about this dress that always struck me as 1950s or 1960s Italy, so I built a story in my head of an Italian woman from that era paying a visit to Chicago.

I got really lucky with this shoot - I really wanted to find a cool, vintage camera to really complete the look, and one of my friends happened to have one! (Mia, if you're reading this, thank you! It was too perfect.)

So if you ever visit Chicago, first off, hit me up! And secondly, do visit Cloud Gate - aka, The Bean. I mean, do other stuff, but for me that's always been the one must see tourist experience for someone visiting the city.

I hope that everyone is having a great Memorial Day weekend!
