Tropicana

I've noticed recently that I do this thing that you're not really supposed to do. I'm not a "basics" kind of gal, so I'll buy a great piece that I love, then realize that nothing in my wardrobe really goes with it. So, of course, I have to buy a new skirt/top/whatever to go with this great piece that I love. It's pretty much the exact opposite of how things are supposed to work, according to fashion magazines, where you only buy a new skirt if it goes with three tops that you already own.

This skirt is one of those pieces that has proved exceedingly difficult to match. I usually just wear it with a white blouse, which isn't exactly an exciting choice, but at least it goes; this purple top was the result of a couple of weeks of checking various stores for a top that worked with one of the secondary colors in this skirt - lavender or hot pink or olive green.

That's all to say that I bought this top because it goes with this skirt; it doesn't really go with anything else in my wardrobe, so there may be a day not to long from now where I'm hunting down bottoms that go with it!

It's sort of funny that this is the top that I ended up with, because I'd basically been over off the shoulder tops recently, but between this cute little top and my off the shoulder dress from last week, I might have to declare myself a fan once again!

What kind of shopper are you? Do you try to buy pieces that go with the things you already have, or do you tend to buy more randomly?
